What do we notice as we walk around our home, go to the supermarket, drive to the train station, talk with friends at a cafe? The landscape holds all the history of this place.
Australia’s ecology is dominated by fragility in the face of extremely fast colonialisation.
In this project I partner with ecologists and historians to conduct short walks to explore what is living in Melbourne and what that tells us about our city, its history and what else lives here other than ourselves. What happens when exploration becomes hyper local? What can we discover looking at even one stretch of arterial road? Who can we bring that knowledge to?
